The forward stairwell and the entrance to the Princess Theater

It may seem odd that I so often mention the stairs on this ship, but they are a big part of cruising life. There are large stairwells located forward, mid ship and aft, all very similar to these. Each stairwell actually features two of these sets of stairs, so there are four stairways in each of three locations on the ship. There are also four elevators forward and aft and six elevators midship (including the two panoramic elevators on the Piazza). In addition, there are several outside stairways, and who knows how many crew stairways and elevators. Moving people up and down on this ship is serious business!

There are 14 passenger decks and several crew decks below that (most below the waterline). It is a fact of life on a ship this large that we climb as many as 50 decks a day and cover this ship (over 900 feet in length) forward to aft several times.

We could do nothing besides go to meals and shows, and be tired by the end of the day. Couple that with rough seas and it's easy to be exhausted by the evening.
