As soon as the Emerald Princess entered the open water of the Atlantic Ocean, we returned to our cabin and got cleaned up for dinner. It was SO nice not to have to unpack again, and I have to remind myself that changing cabins between cruises to possibly save a little money, which I'm always pushing G to do, would NOT be worth it. Best to pay a little more, book well in advance and lock in our cabin for the duration of our cruise.
As always, it was so nice to have our table for two by a window and Suttipong and Somphong waiting for us. I tried something different tonight, the red snapper mojito, which is basically a ceviche, raw fish marinated in lime juice. In fact, since I didn't really see an entree that appealed tonight (all that salmon at lunch), I ordered two of the appetizers and then a side plate of pasta served with my usual spinach and broccoli cooked with olive oil and garlic. It should be mentioned here that G hates garlic, particularly the smell of it, and resists most of my attempts to use it at home. But, on a cruise...I'd eat it three meals a day if I could find an appropriate breakfast use for it.
We dined slowly tonight; the early show was at 7:15pm, and since we didn't get to the dining room until 6:15pm due to sailaway (and we even skipped Skywalkers tonight, we were having so much fun watching it all from Deck 19) we knew we didn't have a chance of making it to the 7:15pm show. Instead we enjoyed band Serious Sounds, about whom we had heard such great things last cruise but who we'd never personally heard, play in the Piazza, and then headed to the 8:30pm Welcome Aboard show. We had missed the Welcome Aboard show last cruise (in bed by 7:30pm), so it was good to see it this time around. We were also pleased to read, in today's cruise preview in the Patter, that we're going to have three new (different from last cruise) performers on board, the first of whom performed a short bit in the show tonight. We've seen comedy impressionist Michael Wilson before, but not recently, which is the best we can hope for, cruising so much in the Caribbean. It was also obvious to us tonight that listening to band Serious Sounds perform will be our go-to entertainment in the evenings when nothing else appeals to us. They are wonderful!
And...that was it. It's 10:30pm, but we're moving ahead again to Atlantic Standard Time again tonight, so, at 11:30pm AST, it's bedtime. I'll post this and be asleep shortly.
We have another big cruise ahead of us, and need our rest!
