We walked back off the ship about 3:30pm, just to walk some more around the waterfront and shopping area of Pointe Seraphine. By the time we reboarded the ship, it was almost 5pm, and Skywalkers was calling. It was Sandeman's port and Stilton cheese night, one of my two favorite nights in Skywalkers (the other is Breeza Marina and herbed goat cheese night). We also wanted to be onboard for the two minutes is silence in recognition of Veterans Day/ Remembrance Day. There was a program following in Club Fusion that we didn't get to, but walked by as it was letting out and it seemed packed. Canadians and Brits do Remembrance Day so much better than we in the US do, where it's become just another reason for a sale.
The Michelangelo dining room was crowded tonight, and we're so lucky to have our table for two and dear Suttipong and Somphong waiting for us. Sutti can nearly predict what we'll order before we even order it, although sometimes we throw him a curveball.
We had a full night of entertainment. First up was an art preview in the art gallery. It was amusing...I was looking at a painting by Viktor Shvaiko; it depicted a Paris street scene and had window boxes where the flowers seemed to jump off the canvas. I called for G to come and look at it, and he said, "Just a minute. I'm reading about this artist whose paintings seem to jump off the canvas". Seldomly has a painting spoke to us like this this one does. But, at $3300, we have a choice to make: art or cruises. No, we really don't have to make a choice; there's no contest. Of course we'll choose to cruise, and then enjoy the art in the gallery on the ship!
We caught a short performance of the singers and dancers in the Piazza (Rock this Town), and then wandered to the Princess Theater for tonight's comedian, Steve Wyler. I know we've seen Steve perform before, but either his material is largely new or we've simply forgotten his act, because we enjoyed it and it seemed fresh. Then it was a quick dash back to Club Fusion to get seats for the Beatle Maniac's second performance of the cruise at 9:30pm. Yes, we were already yawning but not much stands between us and a Beatle Maniacs performance.
Tomorrow: an early arrival in Barbados and an even earlier sunrise, with all onboard by 3:30pm. It's one of our very favorite islands, and we have several options to choose from in how to spend our day. Our final choice will hinge on weather and how we feel, a luxury of being on the ship for most of the winter.
