This was a nearly perfect sea day, marred only a smidge by fairly bouncy seas that started to calm by dinner time. But it was still sunny, as it’s been pretty much every day since we first left Los Angeles on December 30. Loving this so much!
We are also loving our current digs. This cabin feels hotel room-spacious. It isn’t, of course, but it is so well laid out with more than ample storage that it really does feel cavernous compared to a standard cabin. I didn’t get quite as lucky with my mattress or my hair dryer (I have a Revlon instead of a Dry Bar), but the sink stopper works perfectly and the water pressure in the shower is razor sharp. What more can we ask for? Well…washcloths. Yep, here we go again. WTH is going on?
Our breakfast /lunch waiters have been moved around as of today, and we now have Edgar from the Philippines and Kristian from Macedonia waiting on our favorite table (where we were seated for breakfast and lunch today). I can’t remember the last time we had a waiter from Macedonia, but, of course, dear Darko will always remain at the top of my favorite Macedonian waiters list (what…you don’t have a favorite Macedonian waiters list?). In fact, that’s quite a coincidence. Somehow, in my memory, the Emerald Princess, Darko and football on MUTS will be forever linked.
Speaking of football…let’s go Indiana!!! So happy to see it is finally their time. Also happy to see a B1G team in the CFP Championship, as long as it’s not TTDS (that team down south). IYKYK
Also speaking of football, I knew today was going to be football-centric, which doesn’t make for an exciting blog post. In fact, I told G at breakfast that I was always a little embarrassed to have to report only that I watched football all day. He rightfully pointed out that it’s what we’d be doing at home. It’s who we are. Still, in the interest of finding blog-worthy content, I willed myself to be participative this morning and attended an origami arts and crafts session in the Michelangelo Dining Room.
In case you want to get crafty yourself, below are the instructions for the two animal shapes we made: a penguin and a brachiosaurus.
Things went fairly well with my penguin…
…but went to hell in a hand basket when I attempted the dinosaur. Mine looked like he was leading his species straight into extinction. There’s a reason I used to get C’s in Art and Conduct.
We returned to the Botticelli Dining Room for lunch and were shocked to see one of the old lunch menus. While it didn’t feature my favorite chicken korma, it did offer another favorite, stuffed bell pepper. Yum!
And then we adjourned to the cabin to get caught up on YouTube videos (my current favorite YouTuber: Tia Weston) and cleaned up for formal night. We started watching the Rams v Panthers wildcard game on our cabin TV but I switched to my iPhone during dinner in the Michelangelo Dining Room. What a game!!
What did we do before unlimited WiFi?
As soon as we were finished eating, we changed into warm clothes and settled into loungers by the MUTS pool to watch the Packers v Bears. The huge rivalry between these two teams made for some back and forth between the MUTS audience, at least until Green Bay started dominating. But that second half: insanity! Loving this great football! However, not too impressed with the quality of the MUTS screen. Important things like the quarter, time remaining and play clock are downright fuzzy.
We remembered over dinner the time, probably 12 or more years ago during one of our Emerald Princess winters, that a divisional championship game was held on a formal night and we were watching it on MUTS with many of us bemoaning the fact that we were missing lobster night in the dining room. G went down in shorts, spoke with one of our headwaiter friends and returned with as many dishes as he could carry filled with just lobster tails. Football and a feast!
Good memories on this ship!
The weather tomorrow in Cabo San Lucas is forecasted to be sunny and in the low 70s. Not exactly beach weather but perfect for hot tubbing on the ship with that glorious view in the background.
Life is good. :-)
