We were slow to get moving this morning and didn’t make it to breakfast in the Botticelli Dining Room, and so I just had cereal at the World Fresh Marketplace to allow those morning pills to settle. I didn’t need a lot of food…I knew what was coming up for our next meal.
I intended to make it to the culinary demonstration at 10am but instead packed up most of my items for tomorrow morning’s cabin move. We have transitioned all our hang up clothing to wire hangers so we can more easily move those items, and I have a 2 gallon ziplock bag for the nightstand items and another for the bathroom items. I gave all this a fair amount of thought when we were packing at home, knowing we were facing several moves.
And after I had my fill of seafood, I wandered by the pastry extravaganza in the Cafe Caribe section of the buffet. Years of grazing in pastry extravaganzas have shown me that these desserts generally look a lot better than they taste. Not so on the Emerald Princess! I can personally attest to the deliciousness of both the carrot cake and the cheesecake. And thank God I don’t have to put myself through the rigors of that taste test on the next three cruises. 😉
Today’s weather was much cooler, in the low 60s, and bumpy but still mostly sunny. It got a bit rougher as the day went on, which is to be expected on this northbound run back to LA.
We went early to the Princess Meat Locker Theater for the Voice of the Ocean. I think this one was the most fun we’ve ever seen, with CD Nathan basically outing himself on stage (in his defense, the deep baritone voice of contestant Billy performing Lou Rawls’ You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine was enough to make me want to crawl up on stage myself). But the runaway star was 15-year old Carter from Australia singing Billy Joel’s Just the Way You Are. He was awarded the trophy with 65% of the vote.
We dressed casually (and warmly) for this evening, going first to the Elite Lounge, then to our final dinner with Baran. His junior waiter, who we’ve only seen a couple of times due to illness was finally back tonight. We actually commented to each other today that we haven’t heard any deep coughs or sneezes on this cruise, and we start over with new passengers tomorrow which bodes well for continued good health for us (and, for the record, that marks 73 days of cruising without contracting the cruise crud for me!).
I am a slow learner!
I really wanted a quiet evening watching the CFP semifinal in the cabin (it wasn’t shown on MUTS), so that is where I went after dinner. G is checking out tonight’s Princess Theater entertainment, sitting in the “just in case” seats, because tonight’s entertainment is tomorrow night’s entertainment also, and this way we’ll know if it appeals.
Finally, I must thank “that” and Mr. that for my birthday greetings and duck today. It was such a treat to enjoy your friendship on board! You’ll be missed!
