Another night of football

It was formal night, but it didn't take too much persuading to talk G out of dinner in the dining room and into watching football poolside. But when he went down to the Michelangelo dining room to tell assistant maitre d' Claudio that we wouldn't be needing our table tonight, he came back to our deck chairs with tonight's lobster dinner on a plate for me. Claudio took care of us- we are getting impossibly spoiled. In fact, G coined a new term tonight...instead of tailgating before a game, we were Lido-decking.
We had no allegiances in this game, but the obnoxiousness of some of the Packers fans had me secretly rooting for the Giants. Of course, the rowdy Packers fans did quiet down quite a bit in the second half... Hey, I know the feeling.
We commented to each other about the amazingly beautiful weather we've had for watching these playoff games on the big screen. In many previous years, we've watched these games huddled under an overhang or squeezed into a lounge or even in our cabin because the weather was so windy or rainy or cold. For this year's games, the weather has been perfect.
Aside from that, it was a quiet day at sea. Although the sun was bright and hot, we abstained from spending a lot of time in it, trying to save our skin a bit for the month that still lies ahead. We went to a wine tasting and enjoyed afternoon tea sitting in teak chairs outside on the Promenade Deck. That and a few housekeeping duties filled our day, and it was nice to relax a bit after five busy port days.
