We had a long afternoon at sea yesterday after leaving Grenada at 2pm. We sneaked into the dining room at 1:25pm for lunch (it closes at 1:30pm) but ate quickly and were in a hot tub by 2pm for sailaway. It appeared the rain we'd had in Grenada had stopped...for awhile.
I tried to get some rest in the afternoon, but, of course did not. I think in my wish list of things I wish I could do, napping comes in second only to singing. No matter- I finally gave up and went to the spa to use the steam room and sauna, something I find almost as restoring as a nap.
We really wanted to watch the playoffs, but by the time they started at 4pm on the big screen, it was raining. There is very little covered area out there, and, of course, those passengers who still had a stake in these games were huddled under it. We did not, and were not willing to put up with the weather to see the games.
There was no pre-dinner cocktail lounge in Skywalkers last night because of the Captains Circle parties being held in Club Fusion. Our invitation for that was not until the evening we leave Aruba, but with nothing else to do, we crashed the 5:15pm party as a prelude to dinner. We really enjoy those parties. We've gotten to know so many of the ship's officers, staff and crew that there is always someone to chat with. Cruise staffer Pinky, from London, asked G to dance, and he happily obliged. Future cruise consultant Nikki stepped in for a photo, and G looked happy to be surrounded.
Dinner followed. We'd seen the last night's comedian, Rollin Jay Moore, earlier this season, not to mention several times in prior years, so we skipped his shows and tried the football games again...still raining. Yuck.
Finally, the time for the deck party and the Beatle Maniacs dance set arrived, something we'd been looking forward to, but the rained continued. We've had such beautiful weather this cruise, but, honestly, we remember LOTS of rainy playoff game weather on these cruises. That's why we enjoyed watching this month's earlier games so much when the weather was great.
