The Island Princess

Part of the reason we booked this vacation is because it's on a class of ship that's new to us.  We've been on ten Princess Cruises ships, but never on the Island Princess or it's twin sister ship, the Coral Princess.  These ships were built to Panamax specifications, purposely designed to fit through the Panama Canal.  These ships are narrower, and hold fewer passengers than the Emerald Princess.

Here is some information and professional photos of the Island Princess.

As we usually do, we first booked this cruise in an inside cabin in an excellent location.  Then, in May, prices dropped and we were able to move to an ocean view cabin right across the hall for less money.  In a stroke of even better fortune, just last week we were notified that we had been given a complementary upgrade to a covered balcony cabin up high on the ship.

We were able to get flights using United frequent flyer miles, we were able to fly in the same day the cruise began (no hotel stay before getting on the ship) and we are now in a balcony cabin.  We may have booked this vacation on a whim, but by now we're convinced it was meant to be.
