Sailaway from Aruba

Just before sailaway, we showered and went up to Skywalkers to watch us leave from 18 decks up. The windows angle out towards the ceiling of the lounge, providing incredible views of the quayside activities in preparation for sailing. The views were amazing.

Due to the narrow channel, ships leave Aruba by sailing straight ahead parallel to the shoreline until clear of the first reef. This provides great views of the island and makes for a fun sailaway. The ship sails right past the airport runways, and the large 747s that are landing are required to circle until the ship is clear of the runways. But, frequently, as soon as we turn out to sea, a jet comes in for a landing, passing low right over the ship.
