And you think gas prices at home are bad! The difference is that a tank of gas on this island would probably last a month.
Crown Bay was in the spirit of the season.
We walked for a couple of hours, during which we met an older couple who pulled up at the Frenchtown marina in their dinghy. They had lived in Puerto Rico for 46 years, and taught school on a military base. For the past 20 years they have been sailing all over the Caribbean. It was a fascinating conversation, and it proved to us that we are NOT cut out for that kind of life. They were trying to get the refrigerator on their boat fixed- it broke several days ago on Martinique and they had been living without it ever since. They looked like they loved their lives, but we are too spoiled by cruising. Yes, we have to dress for dinner...but as least it's served cold when appropriate, hot when appropriate, and we didn't have to plan it, shop for it, prepare it, serve it and clean up after it.
Back to the ship, then, for a dip in the hot tub (G) and pool (me). Tonight's pre-dinner drink in Skywalkers is a Breeza Marina, and the special hors doerve is herbed goat cheese and bruschetta, one of my favorites.
And they don't have those on a sailboat without refrigeration either!
