…you book another transatlantic cruise!
Once again, we’re crossing the Atlantic by plane to cruise back s l o w l y on the Regal Princess. You may recall that last October when we did this, we missed two ports, Vigo and Bilbao, due to hurricanes floating around the North Atlantic. We were able to go to Cork, Ireland, as a substitute, so all was good, but, like Normandy in France, Santiago de Compostela (near Vigo) has been on my second-tier bucket list for decades. Furthermore, though we’ve been to the Canary Islands and Madeira, we’ve never gotten to the Azores. We needed to try again.
It took some finagling to fit this one in, and, just as in 2019 (the 11th surgery on “that” foot), there have been a few stressful nights when I’ve lain awake wondering what shape I would be in when we left home. Actually, I'm not wearing a boot (cast) or using crutches, which puts me in a much better position than when I embarked on a month-long cruise to Australia using both. Fortunately, that trip ended well, so I'm optimistic.
We leave tomorrow for London, getting the hard part over right away. I’ll be publishing updates from the ship, provided I can add pics at the same time. I hope you’ll follow along!
