Day 18: Juneau

We are fine, but I am not preparing a real blog post for Juneau. It poured all day long, and, with our noon arrival, we just ended up staying on the ship all day. We started the day in a huge way, seeing a pod of Dall porpoises right off our side (the port side) of the ship, and then seeing a humpback whale spouting and slapping the water with his tail to stun the fish, also on our side of the ship.

Remember, last week the whale sightings were on the port side, too. There must be a rule or something…

We had decent cellular through GCI, and got caught up with the news (though we kinda wished we hadn’t) and I got some phenomenal news from McGuy who had his first college acceptance letter, along with about a 90% 4-year scholarship ($120,000!!!) for out of state students. We are all bouncing off the walls with that news…and the fact that McGee is an invited guest at a military academy next week. These guys…my heart. I’m not entirely certain I’m ready for what will be happening at this time next year.

The Princess Theater entertainment was soprano Barbi McCulloch, and we skipped that too. It was just an entirely laid back kind of day.

Finally, a quick observation about Cruising in the Age of COVID: ladies, leave the makeup at home. Except for eye makeup. Bring twice as much of that as usual. It’s all we’ve got right now.
