Same city, different bed- we're on our way!

I know I said yesterday that there were two more days before we fly to Venice, but one of them will be spent in a hotel.  Bose noise cancelling earbuds and a night in a hotel at our own airport? Yep, we are livin' large this year!

Actually, what we are is living longer. While we used to be able work all day, catch red eyes, fly all night and hit the ground running, those days are behind us.  Our Economy Class flight to Europe tomorrow will cost us (especially me) a good night's sleep.  Though our suitcases were closed and weighed and we had done almost all of the most time consuming tasks there were to do around the house by last night, there were still a multitude of piddling things left for the last day.  The thought of getting up and working through our "Last Morning" to do items, which are always more stressful than anticipated, and then getting to the airport and flying all night did not excite us in the least.  Instead, we had a slightly more relaxed morning and were picked up by Martha (God bless her, she insisted on the extra hour round trip drive) to take us to the hotel.

We spent the remainder of our afternoon working out, and then using the hotel's hot tub and pool.  We walked over to the airport for dinner and did some leisurely exploring- as is usually the case, we haven't spent a lot of time in our own airport- and then returned to the hotel for a sunset view and some last minute interneting (we won't likely see the combination of fast and free for quite some time).   We'll be early to bed, trying to adjust to our new time zone, 6 hours ahead of EDT, but we even have late checkout tomorrow if flight delays demand it. It's a very relaxed way to kick off our trip, a bit of peace and an opportunity to recharge...after all, we have to wait two more days before we're on the Pacific Princess being waited on hand and foot for three months. ;-)

Why haven't we done this forever?
