We are at the gate awaiting our non-stop flight on Southwest. Closing up the house went smoothly this morning; we work from check lists of things to do last week, last day, final morning. Friend Martha drove us to the airport (thank you Martha!). We are maxing out the capacity of four BIG suitcases, close to 200 pounds of luggage in all. We can travel light (I spent two weeks in China with a carry on), but we had no incentive to cut back on our packing on this trip. We're allowed two checked bags each on Southwest, and we're taking full advantage of that.
We keep looking at each other saying "We made it!". It's as if getting ready for this trip has been a series of hurdles, and each one we clear puts us that much closer to our winter home.
