I was up before 6am to walk on Deck 19, and was happy to see that the rain we had all yesterday morning did not return. It did finally clear up on Thanksgiving. By the afternoon, the sun was out and Dominica was simmering. G went out for a walk (he simply cannot NOT get off the ship, at least for a little while, each port day), but even he was back on board within an hour. Pity those poor people who had booked ship's excursions yesterday morning. They do not cancel them, except in the case of boat trips when it's too rough, and people were coming back on the ship absolutely soaked. This is just one of the reasons we don't book ship's excursions- who knows what the weather will be like? Perhaps we'd prefer a "down day" on that island.
The day turned out to be a bit of a lazy one for us. We were pleased to receive a phone call from John and Tess S., the most traveled passengers on this cruise and the prior one. They have cruised more than 1400 nights on Princess alone, and have done the World Cruise 7 times already!! We have friends in common and it was a pleasure to dine with them on Thanksgiving. They said they had to meet these people doing all these back to back cruises in a row, and find out why we weren't simply doing the World Cruise. So we told them. It was a nice evening.
After dinner, we simply took a leisurely walk on the Promenade Deck and watched the lights of the island of Guadeloupe in the distance.
On tap for today- another beach. Antigua brags that it has 365 beaches, one for every day, and there is one with our name on it today.
