Wow! What a wonderful day in St. Thomas. Despite periodic rain showers we had plenty of full-on hot sun and we returned to the ship considerably darker than when we left. The air temperature was 88; the water temp 86. It was like swimming in salty bath water. Water Island is a special place and it is a highlight of any cruise when we get over there.
We re-boarded the Emerald Princess about 4pm, and G headed up to the aft hot tub while I got cleaned up for dinner. We do best when we do our ablutions in shifts, and it was my turn to go first. By the time I was ready for dinner, G returned to shower and I headed up to Skywalkers to get started on pre-dinner drinks (tonight's featured drink was the mojito, one of my favorites). When the ship sailed on time at 5pm, G had joined me and we enjoyed a beautiful sail away and sunset.
Dinner tonight included escargot, French onion soup and a special gift from our head waiter Antonio- freshly made shrimp tempura. We are seated in the Princess Theater awaiting the Beatle Maniacs show, their first of this cruise. We never tire of their show. But we were a bit surprised to see a different Paul McCartney and George Harrison than last cruise. I think this group of four are the same musicians we enjoyed last winter season on the Emerald Princess.
In bed by 10pm. We have an early arrival (7am) into St. Kitts tomorrow. We have another beach day planned, at a beach that is new to us. We also want to visit Brimstone Hill Fortress on St. Kitts, which we've never been to, but we'll be on St. Kitts at least three more times this winter, so we'll do all these things eventually.
